What do
I need to get a website
Your
web address or domain name acts as your online location and
brand name. Where possible we recommend using your business
name with the main or .com extension (i.e.
www.yourbusinessname.com).
A country specific domain such as “.com.au” may
incorrectly suggest a narrowed market focus. In addition .com
domain names are slightly cheaper than their country specific
counterparts.
If
you do not already have a domain name we can assist in
registering one. Domain charges (approximately $20 per annum)
are your responsibility and are not included in our plans.
We
send you an easy to complete document requesting business
specific information needed to build your website. This
includes your contact details and website requirements.
We request your product information in an Excel spreadsheet (i.e. your
current price list). Typically this includes your product
code, name, tax rate*, price*, long des
. For assistance
please contact us.
We request you
send
us your product images to be displayed on the website.

Your
website will be up and running within 2 weeks of receiving
your information and often a lot quicker. We can quickly
update your site, so don’t delay getting online purely because information is
currently unavailable.

How does online ordering work
Customers
can order online in a secure and simple manner. To buy,
customers simply click the product's “Buy” button. A running total
displays relevant order details on every page. When finished
customers click the checkout link to review, amend and / or complete the order.
This includes entering their details and payment method (credit card, cheque or account).
A confirmation email with the order details is
automatically sent to the customer.
As soon as an
order is submitted, you receive a notification email with all
relevant details. This includes the products purchased, customer
billing / shipping details, method of payment etc. Credit card
numbers are stored on a secure server, and can only be
retrieved via a password-protected login. Payment
processing is done via your existing merchant facilities.

6.
Restricting access to your website
We
can restrict access to your website (i.e. a wholesaler may
limit access to his retail clients) via a user
name and password. When a users enters the restricted website
area, they are prompted for a user name and password.

7.
What about pictures
Whilst
having product pictures on your website is optional, we highly
recommend including them. The cliché says, “A picture is
worth a thousand words” and never more true than on the web.
A quality picture and detailed description alleviates much of
the uncertainly of buying online.

Functionality over fashion
Our
websites are built to be functional ensuring users enjoy a
consistent and hassle free online experience. We believe users
are looking for a method to simply view, easily navigate
and quickly purchase products. They do not expect or desire “works of
art”.
Arguably
the most successful website, Google.com, demonstrates this
concept. They have a plain white background, simple logo and
search field. No flash introductions or complex graphics which
tend to discourage regular users.
